Dan has a background in PE teaching, having worked in schools and colleges for many years and has also coached football in America and Australia.
In his role as Head of Education and Welfare, Dan monitors the educational progression of all academy players registered at the club. This involves regular liaison with local schools and parents.
He ensures the club's education programme offers the best opportunities to maximise the educational potential of all academy players.
Dan oversees the education programme on the apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence for our academy scholars and is tutor and assessor on the NVQ Diploma in Achieving Excellence in Sporting Performance.
Dan is responsible for the Lifestyle Management programme of all academy players and the club's accommodation providers for Under-18s and schoolboy players. He is the academy safeguarding officer, a role which involves working closely with the club designated safeguarding officer. He attends regular workshops held by the EFL, LFE and PFA on behalf of the club.
