The Owls completed the loan signing of goalkeeper James Beadle from Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion in January.

The 19-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan in League One with Oxford United, where the talented young shot-stopper became a key member of the U’s side.

He moved up to the Championship with Wednesday for the remainder of the campaign.

Beadle began his career with Charlton Athletic before making the switch to the Seagulls in September 2022.

He was loaned to Crewe Alexandra in January 2023 and enjoyed his first taste of senior football, catching the eye after a string of impressive performances.

Beadle moved to Oxford in July last year and soon established himself at the Kassam Stadium, enjoying an unbroken run between the sticks between August and January.

The teenager has represented England from the Under-15s to the Under-20s, as well as receiving call-ups to the Three Lions’ Under-21s.

He was part of the England squad that competed in last summer’s Under-20 World Cup in Argentina, playing against Iran in the group stage and keeping a clean sheet.

Beadle’s move to Hillsborough sees him link up with his former goalkeeper coach at Brighton, Sal Bibbo, the most recent addition to Danny Rohl’s backroom staff.

The keeper will wear shirt number 26 for the duration of his Hillsborough stay.
